Long Term Projects
Lang & Penny Gifford's pickup has come back
for a change of gearbox. Apparently the manual box was too much for Penny (Paul says "Girly!")
and so an auto will be installed in it's place. Unfortunately this decision has meant that
major surgery was needed and so, as can be seen in the second photo, the gearbox crossmember
had to be removed. Also, the chassis was strengthened in addition to a new crossmember being
fabricated. The front wishbones have also been split to allow for more room. Paul says that Ian
has done a fantastic job on this as it's no mean feat. Welcome to the world of Hot Rodding!

Jerry's Hudson isn't something you see very often,
let alone one that's been rodded. It still features the original straight eight flattie. It's
come in for some new leaf springs and oddly some wider wheels. As there is nothing suitable
available, the original centres were reused and a brand new set of chrome 8 spokes were used for
the 7 inch rims. We knew there was a use for them! The completed wheels will be painted custard
yellow prior to fitting.

While the US Automotive panel van is away the
space has been filled by this 46 Studebaker pickup. Having previously been featured in Custom Car
in 1991, the truck has an interesting history and has come in for some finishing work on the
chassis, engine mounts, suspension etc.
